Report: Immortals could be heading out of NA LCS

Immortals competed both in the North American League of Legends Championship Series and at the Worlds recently, but now a recent report by ESPN claims that they could be out of the former after their application to participate was denied, although Echo Fox was accepted and will receive a permanent spot.

A source close to Riot Games allegedly said that the declining of Immortals comes in part as a result of the financial commitment already in place to provide live viewing for its Overwatch League team, but they will receive 10 shares in a compensation pool, comprised of the at least $12 million USD's worth of buy-ins from new owners, one of which is Echo Fox, who will be required to pay $10 million in franchising fees over the coming years.

In a series of updates, ESPN also reports that Riot Games sources have claimed that they had concerns about Immortals' finances, and that the team had operated at a loss since 2015, so would not be able to provide money to the revenue share.

Another update included a comment from Immortals' CEO Noah Whinston, who said: "We cannot comment on our status in the League Championship Series or our specific revenue, but Immortals has significant financial resources from our investors, including AEG and Lionsgate, and we do not operate at a different financial structure than other esports teams in the industry."

Take all of this with a pinch of salt, as none of it is confirmed.
